Some music has to be heard live. The Elgin Master Chorale opens its 80th season with the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra and the unmistakable power of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana. From the first thunderous notes of “O Fortuna,” hundreds of voices and instruments come together for music that is massive, exhilarating, and impossible to experience the same way anywhere else. Ancient poetry about fortune, love, desire, and the fleeting nature of life erupts into one of the most electrifying works ever written for chorus and orchestra. This is music you feel as much as you hear, and a performance made for the concert hall.
