Add Alt Text to Posts with Images
In the browser
To add alt text to an image in the browser version of X, formerly called Twitter:
- Click “Add description” below the image.
- Type your text in the “Description” box.
- If you are posting multiple images, switch between them by using the left and right arrow buttons at the top. Add a description for each.
- Click the “Save” button to continue editing your post.
In the mobile app
To add alt text in the X app:
- Click on the “+ALT” button at the bottom right of an image.
- Type your text in the “Describe this photo…” field.
- Click “Done” in the top right corner to save.
- Complete steps 1 through 3 for each image.
Add Captions to Video Posts
Captions can only be added to videos uploaded through the browser on X. They cannot be added through the app.
- Click “Upload caption file (.srt)” below the video.
- Click the “Upload captions” button to upload the SRT file.
- Click the “Done” button.
