Add Alt Text to Posts with Images

In the browser

To add alt text in the browser version of LinkedIn, follow these steps:

1. Start a new post and upload your image.
2. After the image appears in the post editor, click the “ALT” button underneath your selected image.
   
3. Type in your text in the “Alt text*” field.
   
4. Click the “Add” button.
5. Repeat steps 1 through 3 for each image.
6. Once complete, click the “Next” button to continue adding to your post.
7. Select Save, then publish your post.

In the mobile app

To add alt text in the LinkedIn mobile app:

1. Once you are in the image editor, click on the “ALT” icon at the bottom.
   
2. Type your text in the “Alt text” field.
   
3. Click “Done” in the top right corner.
4. If you have multiple images, swipe left and right to switch between them. Repeat steps 1 through 3 for each image.
5. Once complete, click the “Next” button in the top right corner to continue adding to your post.

Adding Captions to a Video

LinkedIn can add captions automatically to your videos, or you can upload your own SRT file.

In the browser

To add captions in the browser:

1. On the video editor page, click on the “CC” icon beneath the video.
   
2. To add captions automatically, click the toggle button for “Add auto captions.”
3. To upload your own SRT file, click “Upload SRT.”
   
4. Click the “Apply” button to save.

In the mobile app

You can add alt text to images in the LinkedIn mobile app when creating a new post by tapping the image and selecting Alt text before publishing. LinkedIn may auto-generate alt text on mobile, but you can tap to add your own custom description during post creation. To turn this on:

1. Click the “CC” icon at the bottom.
   
2. Click the toggle for “Add auto captions (English only)”. The button turns green to indicate that captions are turned on.
   
3. Click the “Next” button to save.
