Add Alt Text to Posts with Images
In the browser
To add alt text in the browser version of LinkedIn, follow these steps:
- Click the “ALT” button underneath your selected image.
- Type in your text in the “Alt text*” box.
- Click the “Add” button.
- Repeat steps 1 through 3 for each image.
- Once complete, click the “Next” button to continue adding to your post.
In the mobile app
To add alt text in the LinkedIn mobile app:
- Once you are in the image editor, click on the “ALT” icon at the bottom.
- Type your text in the “Alt text” field.
- Click “Done” in the top right corner.
- If you have multiple images, swipe left and right to switch between them. Repeat steps 1 through 3 for each image.
- Once complete, click the “Next” button in the top right corner to continue adding to your post.
Adding Captions to a Video
LinkedIn can add captions automatically to your videos, or you can upload your own SRT file.
In the browser
To add captions in the browser:
- On the video editor page, click on the “CC” icon beneath the video.
- To add captions automatically, click the toggle button for “Add auto captions.”
- To upload your own SRT file, click “Upload SRT.”
- Click the “Apply” button to save.
In the mobile app
In the LinkedIn app, only automatically generated captions are available without the ability to edit. To turn this on:
- Click the “CC” icon at the bottom.
- Click the toggle for “Add auto captions (English only)”. The button turns green to indicate that captions are turned on.
- Click the “Next” button to save.
