Elgin Community College offers various ways to get the hands-on education you need to enhance your resume or start the workforce. Many of these free programs offer job skills training, one-on-one support, and academic resources such as tutoring to guide you through graduation. ECC provides on-site child care for parents and flexible class schedules to meet your needs if you can't return to work due to child care or other obligations.
Apprenticeship Program
Apprentices learn while earning! Begin building your future with paid, structured, on-the-job training while completing your certificate or degree here at ECC. Be different - graduate with no college debt.
Future Workforce Leaders Program
Learn about various career pathways and work on completing your State of Illinois High School Diploma and an occupational training certificate or gain valuable work experience in a chosen field.

Integrated Career and Academic Preparation System
Earn a vocational certificate in one year. ICAPS enables students to earn a certificate while earning a high school equivalency or improving English language skills, reading, or math. It's a great way to get back to work after a long break with marketable skills and a structured program that offers dedicated assistance from the program's start to graduating and finding a job - through a no-cost program with proven results.
Student Employment Program
Working on campus is a great way to add skills to a resume, be vital to ECC's operations, and gain work experience in a chosen field. ECC offers on-campus roles across a range of experience levels.
Transitions Bridge Classes
If you are enrolled in a State of Illinois High School Diploma or ESL program. In that case, ECC offers the opportunity to learn about different careers, including early childhood education, health care, and industrial arts. These industries often have a high demand for skilled, credentialed workers. This program supports you through personalized coaching from our transitions coordinator to discuss academic and career plans.
