ECC’s First EDI Peer Leadership Team Celebrates 1 Year, Sends off 2 Grads

Elgin Community College Names Student Leadership for 2024-25 Academic Year
Three Elgin Community College student leaders will represent the college for the 2024-25 academic year. Jess Heiser, of St. Charles, Ill., was elected as the District 509 Board of Trustees student trustee. ECC’s Student Body Government will be led by President Seth Hernandez, of South Elgin, Ill., with Brianna Zlotow, of Hanover Park, Ill., as executive vice president.

ECC participates in Habitat for Humanity Women Build Event for Third Year
On Wednesday, May 1, a group of eight female administrators and staff from Elgin Community College participated in the Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley 2024 Women Build Event. Elizabeth Hobson, dean of adult education, led the group.

During my senior year of high school, I had the opportunity to join the Dual Credit Program at Elgin Community College. At first, I was very doubtful about it. I didn't know if I was capable enough to take on this challenge and if it was going to be good for my mental health.

So, when I enrolled at Elgin Community College, I went for an Associate in Arts degree to get my general education courses out of the way and explore different fields to discover the career I am passionate about.
