Sarah DeLoncker, marketing operations specialist
This week, take five out of your day and learn about Sarah DeLoncker, marketing operations specialist. Growing up in Streamwood, Illinois, she attended Northern Illinois University after high school. DeLoncker found her place in marketing after moving into the role of director of recruiting and marketing at a staffing firm that specializes in finding employees for industrial manufacturing companies in the Chicagoland area. “I enjoyed the marketing and advertising aspect of my role more than I did the recruiting,” said DeLoncker, “so when I saw the opening at ECC, I decided to take a chance on it.”
Her chance paid off, and DeLoncker has been a part of the marketing team at ECC since 2015. Read more about DeLoncker’s love for the outdoors, morning workouts, and her dream of becoming a Marine Photographer. And if you see her on St. Patrick's day, remember to say happy birthday!
What should your colleagues know about your position at ECC? My role as marketing operations specialist is to support the marketing initiatives lead by our department. I’m the face behind the distribution of ECC’s marketing emails, enrollment text messages, and media buys.
If you could instantly be an expert at one thing, what would you choose? I would love to instantly be an expert at speaking Spanish.
Where is the best place you’ve traveled, or where is somewhere you dream of going, and why? I fell in love with Lake Tahoe the moment I arrived. The deep blue color of the lake, the strong scent of pine trees, the mountain views all around, and the laid-back vibe did it for me.
What’s one thing that really makes your day? Morning yoga or pilates.
What did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a marine photographer for National Geographic. While in high school, I was able to get my feet wet by taking an underwater photography class at the College of DuPage. I began researching colleges that offered this major but ultimately decided that I could not afford to move cross country to a coastal school. Over the years, I have lost my passion for photography, but I still love to swim every chance I get.
