When Hiral Patel-Hutton began her internship with the National Safety Council in Itasca, she did not have a lot of graphic design experience, but she wanted to learn first-hand how to design collateral for ad campaigns.
“I was looking for an opportunity to learn and grow as a graphic designer,” said Patel-Hutton. “This internship taught me how companies plan and execute ad campaigns. You learn so much more in actually doing the job than just learning the skills in the classroom,” she added.
Patel-Hutton will take on a new internship this spring, hopefully on campus. She encourages students to look at what internships are available, because students can get on the job experience in their field at a company they might not expect – like getting graphic design experience at the National Safety Council.
