When it comes to obtaining success, there is no clear guide on exactly how to achieve it. Therefore, I decided to create my own. My journey at Elgin Community College started back in 2011 after I graduated from Larkin High School. I was always the type of student who did enough work to get by, but college showed me that there is more to it than that. Unclear of what I wanted to do in life, I ended up not succeeding in my classes, ruining my GPA, and dropping out.
I spent the next six years of my life trying to figure out exactly what I wanted to do. It wasn’t until I lost my job as a manager that realized I needed a backup plan. My girlfriend Alexandra gave me the motivation to enroll back in college and work toward an associate degree. Despite my fears, it was time for me to put the past behind me and go for it.
Since coming back to ECC, I've become an individual who is more goal-oriented than I have ever been, and I focus more on my future and how I can achieve more success and better myself. I have been accepted into Arizona State University to obtain my Bachelor of Art in Film and Media Studies, and I can’t wait to see what else the future has in store for me. To anyone who may have lost hope or needs motivation, one thing that I always remind myself is to just keep pushing.
