A special “I Dream in Color Week” kick-off message from event creator Brittany Barber

Elgin Community College’s first-ever “I Dream in Color (IDIC) Week,” which runs Monday, Sept. 10 through Saturday, Sept. 15, is an innovative, campus-wide multicultural initiative designed to engage, equip and empower students toward reaching their academic and professional goals.

Drawing on the college’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, IDIC Week brings in a diverse range of speakers, workshops and activities.

The week’s theme, “I have a future and the future includes me!”, is a declaration, an expectation, a commitment and a command. This is a rallying belief and hope for all students to unify around and connect with.

Students will be engaged in critical thought, equipped with tools and strategies for success, and educated on how to advocate for themselves—all with the intention of empowering them to self-define and purposefully pursue their goals.

I encourage you to join us for these important, impactful campus events that are open to the community. Check out the event details at elgin.edu/dreamincolor.

The future includes you.
