Culinary Arts students at Elgin Community College will square off against students from Harper College in a head-to-head cupcake showdown at the Hoffman Estates’ 2018 Bon Appetit Community Food and Drink Festival on Thursday, April 26. The event will take place from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Stonegate Conference and Banquet Centre, 2401 W. Higgins Road, in Hoffman Estates.
Representing ECC are Diony Dominguez with his carrot cake cupcake and Mariela Soto with her lemon honey cupcake (pictured above).
Sponsored by Tate & Lyle Splenda, the competition awards $1,000 and $500 scholarships to the two students who best utilize Splenda sweetener and receive the popular vote by attendees. This is the sixth cupcake taste-off between the two schools. An ECC student won first place at last year’s competition.
Tickets for the event are $25 in advance, $35 at the door. For more information on the event, please visit the Hoffman Estates Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s website at www.hechamber.com.
