An important feature of internal governance, committees provide a forum for diverse ideas to be heard, a mechanism for problem-solving and an environment for issues to be studied in a more in-depth manner than could be accomplished individually.
Academic Program Review
To oversee processes for regular self-study and peer review of ECC transfer programs, career-technical programs, and academic service areas to ensure continued quality.
Academic Technology Committee
To identify needs and implement technology projects to support academic and student services goals.
To review all new courses and programs to ensure that the curriculum reflects the current educational goals of the college. This committee meets the first and third Fridays of each month during the academic year.
Faculty Development Committee
To improve, enhance, enrich, and strengthen the teaching/learning process.
Global and International Studies Taskforce (GIST)
To set goals, direct funds, and evaluate progress in fulfilling the college's strategic goals for cultural and global awareness.
Hay Review Committee
To evaluate and grade position description questionnaires (PDQs) for all non-faculty ECC positions according to HayGroup® methodology.
Multicultural And Global Initiatives Committee (MAGIC)
To assist ECC faculty in incorporating the interrelation between intercultural perspectives as instructors, counselors, and librarians. To support administration and staff in understanding and celebrating all cultures. To assist human resources staff in the recruitment of faculty, staff, and students, and to develop or recommend activities/programs to support our community in meeting their educational goals successfully. Expand the knowledge, skills, and research of multiculturalism in the evolving culture of the college. To design accountability and assessment measures.
Strategic Planning Committee/Strategic Planning and Budgeting Council
To create new institutional goals upon review of existing reports, ECC data, regional trends, and national trends in higher education. Reviews department goals and budgets and recommend to the President ways to balance the college budget and through sound fiscal management.
Student Learning Assessment and Advisory Committee (SLAAC)
To identify general education outcomes, develop and monitor measures for these outcomes, report the results to the college community, and organize efforts to develop improvement strategies. This committee meets twice a month during the academic year. Anyone interested from the college is welcome to attend.
Student Success Infrastructure (SSI)
To improve student success among diverse populations by providing equitable support and resources.
TIDE Teaching/Learning for Inclusivity Diversity Equity
To inspire and support culturally responsive teaching, with implications for educators and students.
TLSD Administrative Procedure Review Team
To review, research, and make recommendations to the vice president for teaching, learning, and student development on policies that deal with instructional related issues.
