Campus Health & Safety FAQ
Effective Monday, August 2, face coverings are required indoors, regardless of vaccination status. Face masks are available at college entrances for all students, employees, and visitors who may need them. Employees work in zones to maintain social distancing using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
ECC will maintain physical distancing (six-foot spacing) throughout the campus to ensure that those who require social distancing can do so. All work and classroom areas have been reviewed and modified to ensure proper physical distancing. Protective barriers, such as Plexiglas, have been installed in high-traffic areas.
August 26, 2021, Executive Order 2021-20 requires ECC faculty, staff, administrators, and students to be vaccinated or undergo COVID-19 testing at least once a week, effective September 19. Specifically, if not vaccinated, you should receive your first dose of a two-dose series or a single-dose vaccine by September 19.
ECC is committed to mitigating the spread of this virus and keeping our students, employees, and community members safe. We know that vaccinations save lives, and everyone who is able to get vaccinated is encouraged to do so. Visit Kane Vax Hub or Vaccines.gov for information on vaccination locations near you.
As has been our practice since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Elgin Community College is actively working through the additional protocols that we must implement to meet this new vaccination requirement.
