Jerry McLaughlin 2001-present
Head Coach, Women’s Basketball
Jerry McLaughlin is in his 18th season as the head coach of Women’s Basketball at Elgin Community College and looks forward to another successful season after finishing 16-12 overall in 2017-18. This year’s roster includes six returning players and five new players. The team will be led by sophomore co-captains Rachel Dumoulin and Kiera Guerrero-Gay. Contributing to the team’s success are sophomores Maggie Goad, Lola Quadri, Genesis Alfaro, and Luz Silva, with additional depth coming from freshmen Andrea Bracy, Mariel Franco, Isa Garcia, Annika Spayne, and Aniya Zinnerman.
Assistant Coach, Women’s Basketball
Eumeka Aguado graduated from Elgin High School in 2001, after playing on the EHS basketball team for four years as a point guard. She had a successful basketball career at Elgin Community College for two years, finishing 21-10 and winning the Skyway Conference Title in 2002-03. Aguado went on to play at Rockford University, an NCAA Division III school in Rockford, IL, where the team became conference champs in her first year. After earning a degree in communications from Northern Illinois University, Aguado returned to her hometown to start a career and began coaching. She is in her ninth year as an assistant coach, most of which has taken place at ECC.
Assistant Coach, Women’s Basketball
Jenna Araujo graduated from Burlington Central High School having been a four-year varsity basketball player. After high school, she played basketball for Loyola University Chicago, and NCAA Division I school. Araujo had a successful career at Loyola, and in 2010, she came back to her hometown to start a career and begin coaching. Before joining ECC Women’s Basketball in 2016, Araujo coached sophomore high school girls’ basketball, junior varsity high school basketball, and varsity girls’ basketball. This is her third year as an assistant coach at ECC.
Genesis Alfaro, an ECC sophomore, is a graduate of Elgin High School, where she played basketball before joining ECC’s Women’s Basketball team. This year, she will play guard and will focus on the defensive end of the floor. A hard worker, she will also look to score from 15 feet and work on the offensive end of the floor. Alfaro is pursuing a degree in criminal justice, and her interests include fitness.
Rachel Dumoulin is a sophomore co-captain from Hampshire High School. Dumoulin is a returning starter who had an exceptional season last year as a freshman, in which she earned numerous honors including Skyway Conference MVP, Third team NJCAA All American, and WBCA Honorable Mention All American. A guard and forward, Dumoulin will look to score from inside and outside and plans go to the foul line this season. She is pursuing a degree in engineering.
In her second year at ECC, Maggie Goad previously played basketball at Hampshire High School. Goad is a point guard who plays hard and was a successful contributor to several important games last year, playing both offense and defense. As a returning starter, she will be a key player and looks to develop her three-point shot this season. Goad is pursuing a nursing degree.
Kiera Guerrero-Gay is a graduate of Hampshire High School and is currently a sophomore at ECC. An excellent defensive player, Guerrero-Gay is co-captain for the ECC team this season. She is known as a hard worker with a coachable attitude. As a returning starter, Guerrero-Gay is a key player on the team and plans to score from inside and outside this season. She is studying nutrition.
Lola Quadri is a graduate from Elgin High School. This season Quadri will be a post player and is a returning starter. She is a very good rebounder and will be a key inside player. Quadri is pursuing a degree in psychology, and her hobbies include spending time with friends and engaging in basketball activities.
Luz Silva, a graduate of Elgin High School, is an ECC sophomore who will play forward on the team this season. She works hard and is very coachable. Silva is the editor-in-chief of ECC’s student newspaper this year, and she is pursuing a degree in criminal justice.
Isa Garcia is a freshman guard who played at Harvest Christian Academy in high school. An excellent all-around athlete with a coachable attitude, Garcia will focus on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor and will look to score inside and outside this season. Garcia is pursuing a degree in biology, and her hobbies are reading, hiking, and traveling.
Mariel Franco is a freshman point guard who graduated from Elgin’s St. Edward High School. Franco is a great passer and can score from inside and outside on the floor; she is coachable and a hard worker. Franco is pursuing a degree in biology, and her hobbies are reading, drawing, playing with her dogs, and playing basketball.
Andrea Bracy is an ECC freshman who attended Streamwood High School. She will play forward and post position this season. Bracy is a very good athlete who can rebound and score inside and outside on the floor. Bracy is pursuing a degree in human services, and her interests include fitness, basketball, music, and going out with friends.
Annika Spayne is an ECC freshman and a graduate of South Elgin High School. While playing forward on the team, she will look to score from the inside and outside and will play post offensive and defensive. Spayne intends to pursue a degree in international business/linguistics, and her hobbies include fitness, cooking, and being with friends.
Aniya Zinnerman is an ECC freshman and a graduate from South Elgin High School. She will play guard as well as small forward as she runs the floor in transition and looks to score inside and outside. Zinnerman is very coachable and will help on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. Her hobbies include reading and watching movies.
