About the speaker
Joe Schroeder is the Chef at Balmoral Restaurant in Campton Hills, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago. Joe has "cheffed" at many different restaurants in the Chicagoland area before coming to Balmoral. He studied in the culinary arts program at Elgin Community College, and then continued his studies at Northern Illinois University in hospitality management. Chef Joe is thrilled to be part of this Purses with Purpose event. Balmoral Restaurant is the vision of Colin Smith, a restaurateur from the Old Country, born in Perthshire, Scotland. In 2013, on a trip to Scotland, Colin visited Balmoral Castle. boasting golden cutlery, fine crystal, and banded dinnerware depicting scenes of Scottish flora and landscapes. Three years later, he found the spot that would be his Balmoral, in Campton Hills. A year later he began building his Stateside version of that royal estate — or at least its dining room — right down to the place settings. Balmoral Restaurant was born.
