Middle College Program

The Middle College Program at Elgin Community College is a great option for high school students who want to earn college credit for general education classes—at no tuition cost.

How It Works

You’ll attend regular high school classes in the morning, then come to ECC for one or two general education classes in the afternoon. You’ll earn both college and high school credit for the college-level classes you take, and tuition is free.

Course Options

Choose from a wide variety of general education courses, ranging from sociology to calculus to elementary Japanese. Options vary depending on your school district.

College Life

As a middle college student at ECC, you can immerse yourself in campus life. Join a club  write for the newspaper, or audition for a play —it’s a great way to get the full college experience.

Who Qualifies

Middle College is open to high school juniors and seniors who have a minimum 3.0 GPA and meet ECC’s academic minimum competencies. Students must attend school in one of the following districts:

  • District 300
  • District 301
