This is a typical course schedule for a student planning to complete the AA degree within two years, then transfer and major in Special Education. See your ECC Academic Advisor to obtain specific requirements as course requirements vary by transfer institution.

1&2 Degree requirements vary by the transfer institution, often schools cap the number of Spanish transfer courses students can apply to their degree requirements. Plan to discuss your transfer options early with your academic advisor.

2 Possible electives include- SPN 211 Conversational Spanish; SPN 251 & 252 Spanish for Spanish Speakers I & II; SPN 261 Spanish Conversation Composition; SPN 262 Spanish Composition Conv; SPN 271 Latin American Civilization; SPN 275 Introduction to Spanish Literature; SPN 281 Topics in Spanish.

3 Spanish Education Majors transfer plan may also include SPN 241 & 242 Spanish for Teachers I & II;

4 Students that took more than 2 years of Spanish in High School or that grew up in a Spanish-speaking household to take the Spanish Placement test. If these students are placed in SPN 102 or 201, they could take more intermediate-advanced Spanish courses that could be more beneficial for them.

Communications, Fine Arts, Social Science, and Behavioral Science are ideal courses to enroll in during the Summer semester to lighten credit course load during Spring and Fall semesters.

  • ECC & many transfer institutions require a Diversity and/or a Multicultural (Human Relations) course as a graduation requirement. Courses that fulfill this requirement at ECC include options in Humanities, Fine Arts, Behavioral Science and Social Science.
