ABEC’s fall classes will be remote. Complete our form to sign-up for classes and we will contact you when registration is open.

How to enroll in our adult basic education center (ABEC) classes.

ABE/ASE/ESL Class Registration Process

To register for classes, you’ll need to complete the following:

Step 1

Complete the student information form or come to Building K, Room K100 or call 847-214-6904.

Step 2

Have available the following required documents:

  1. Photo identification (government issued).
  2. Public assistance documentation, if applicable.
  3. Letter of separation documentation, if 16 or 17 years old.

Step 3

Complete the student information form, either in person or online.

Step 4

Wait to receive an ECC student ID number.

Step 5

Schedule an appointment to take the appropriate placement test, either in person or remotely.

  • 5a: If English as a Second Language (ESL) student, schedule a mandatory workshop appointment.
  • 5b: If a High School Equivalency (HSE/GED) student, schedule a mandatory orientation appointment.

Step 6

Receive class placement.

Step 7

Register for classes, either face-to-face or virtually.

Step 8

Start attending classes. Finally - Success!
