About the Talent Search Transitions Program
ECC provides academic, career, and financial counseling to participating students to help them graduate from high school and continue post-secondary education through the Talent Search Transitions Program. Funded by the US Department of Education, the program provides services to qualified middle and high school students who want additional guidance in navigating their paths and options.
The Talent Search Transitions Program serves students in grades 7 to 12.
Middle school students must attend Abbott, Ellis, Kimball, Larsen, Carpentersville, Canton, or Tefft Middle Schools.
High school students must attend Elgin, Larkin, Streamwood, or Dundee-Crown High Schools.
Students must meet the following criteria:
- The student is a US citizen or a permanent resident.
- The family demonstrates financial need OR;
- The student is a potential first-generation college student (neither parent(s)/legal guardian(s) graduated from a four-year college or university in the US).
- Advice in secondary school course selection
- Explore career options
- Goal setting and post-secondary planning
- Academic support
- Assistance in preparing for college entrance examinations
- Support in completing college admission applications
- Guidance in completing financial aid applications
- Tour colleges
- Workshops for parents/guardians
Please submit a complete application, including additional verification documents, to be considered for the program. If the student is under 18, the guardian must help complete the application packet. You can submit it by choosing one of the columns below and completing its labeled steps:

|2. Have required documentation virtually accessible to upload
|3. Complete the paperwork and submit it either through mail at 1700 Spartan Drive (Building K-102, Talent Search) Elgin, IL 60123 or fax to 847 608-5493
|3. Print the completed document, sign in designated areas, and scan the signed version completely

Our ability to serve students is determined on a first-come, first-serve basis. Therefore, it is important to turn in the application and all supporting documents as soon as possible. All submitted applications and documentation are kept confidential.
