Coming to Campus FAQ
To adhere to social distancing and to protect the health and safety of our students and their families, group campus tours have been canceled, but individual tours are being considered for prospective students by appointment only. Sign up now for a Virtual Admissions Presentation.
We are taking every precaution necessary to keep students and staff safe on campus. In the event of a confirmed COVID-19 case on campus, we will review all pertinent information to decide if closing the campus is the best course of action and additional health and safety measures.
Students can contact the Office of the Associate Vice-President of Student Services and Development / Dean of Students at firstname.lastname@example.org for information regarding classes and absences. Students can also refer to the College's Campus Central web page for updates from the College on our current status and links to information about COVID-19.
To limit exposure of COVID-19 through social distancing, ECC is limiting Large gatherings, with more than 50 people, during the fall semester.
The childcare center is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, and Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm (closed on Friday during the summer semester). The ECC Early Childhood Lab School offers flexible, campus-based child care for children ages six-weeks through 5 years. Financial aid and state subsidies are accepted, and additional child care assistance is available to PELL eligible students through CCAMPIS Grant funding. Limited space is available for the summer semester for students and staff. Visit the ECC Childcare Center Website
ECC utilizes an Infectious and Communicable Disease Administrative Procedure and the Emergency Operations Plan to address any communicable disease outbreak or another emergency. We work in conjunction with the various county health departments and the Illinois Department of Public Health when determining what steps are necessary to protect our students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Beginning June 7, the ECC campus will be open to the following groups:
- The campus is open to individuals with business to conduct on ECC campus property; the campus is not open for social or non-business activity.
- The Library is open 8 am to 4 pm, Monday through Thursday.
- The Fitness Center is open to those with approved access and is subject to social distancing guidelines and capacity limits. Face coverings are required.
ECC is updating its Business and Academic Continuity Plan as it evolves and will speak to decisions to change the class schedule. We are committed to ensuring that all students can complete the semester and provide guidance on how any missed classes will be addressed.
The majority of ECC's classes will be delivered remotely and would not be interrupted by a campus closure. However, hybrid classes that involve a face-to-face component have been scheduled to end the on-campus portion of classes no later than the Thanksgiving break. If ECC were to close for a few days before the break, face-to-face meeting days on-campus would be added following the Thanksgiving break to make up for lost instruction and would be completed by the end of the semester in December. If ECC were to close for a more extended period, we remain committed to helping every student complete their classes when it is safe to do so, as we did for classes that were interrupted during the spring 2020 semester, which were all safely completed on campus over the summer.
Preserving academic integrity is important. Therefore, courses moving to an alternative delivery format will no longer be held on campus when it reopens, unless otherwise instructed. We anticipate that the classes will continue to be held remotely through the end of the spring semester.
By moving the majority of our classes to an alternative delivery format, we will reduce the number of individuals meeting on campus while ensuring continuity of instruction. This timeframe may shift and be subject to change depending on the College and our students' circumstances and needs. We want to remind you that this is a fluid situation that continues to evolve each day.
