Spring 2021

Take your next step.
In response to the uncertainty of many variables associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, spring 2021 classes will be offered primarily online, with face-to-face instruction provided only when necessary. Specialized lab courses requiring a face-to-face component will be offered on campus but may also include online learning.
ECC is committed to offering programs and student support services in engaging online formats so you can move forward safely while staying close to home. Technology and online learning resources are available. See the technology section below.
Academic Calendar
The spring semester begins on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. All on-campus coursework will be scheduled to conclude no later than Sunday, May 9, 2021. Online coursework may continue through the end of the semester on Wednesday, May 19, 2021.
Bookstore
Need books and supplies for classes? The bookstore is open online and fulfills orders within 24 hours. Use the textbook lookup tab and choose shipping or on-campus curbside pick-up. Books for spring will be available beginning October 26.
Campus Health & Safety
Face-to-face instruction will be conducted with protective measures in place, including regular sanitizing of college facilities and social distancing in accordance with federal and state guidelines. The college will provide necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), including hand washing and sanitizing products, and face coverings for students and faculty.
Classes
ECC will continue to deliver a high-quality academic experience for students enrolled in online and hybrid courses. Most classes will be offered entirely online. Some courses requiring an essential face-to-face component, such as on-campus lab work, will be provided as hybrid classes. This means a mixture of hands-on, face-to-face instruction and online learning.

If your sponsor is unable to send the check at this time, let us know so that we can help you.
Sizes of Student Groups
To accommodate social distancing guidelines during face-to-face instruction, class sizes may be reduced, and additional lab sections may be added to accommodate smaller groups. In some cases, larger groups may be broken up in adjacent rooms.
Student Support Services & Faculty Office Hours
Since the onset of the pandemic, hundreds of students have utilized our student services remotely. This spring, the majority of student support services will continue to be provided remotely, including admissions, academic advising, tutoring, wellness services, and more. On-campus services with limited days and hours will also be available by appointment only. Faculty office hours will be delivered virtually during the spring semester.
Technology
To be successful in the online learning environment, students will need to be equipped with the necessary technology, such as a laptop or Chromebook, and access to the Internet. If you do not have access to these resources and need assistance, please contact the Library Circulation Desk at circdesk@elgin.edu for Chromebook requests and deanofstudentservices@elgin.edu for Wi-Fi hotspots.
Please note: The college's priority is to distribute resources to students who do not have access to online technology at home.
