In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, summer classes will be offered primarily in online and hybrid formats, with face-to-face instruction provided only when necessary. Specialized lab courses requiring a face-to-face component will be offered on campus but may also include online learning. ECC is planning for a transitional return to normal operations during the fall 2021 semester. As such, ECC will offer an increased number of hybrid and face-to-face classes and will be adding additional hybrid and face-to-face classes to the schedule based upon demand and updates related to COVID-19.
ECC is committed to offering programs in safe and engaging formats, including online synchronous, online asynchronous, hybrid and face-to-face. Most student support services are available remotely and in-person by appointment. See operations for more information. Technology and online learning resources are also available. See the technology section below.
The summer semester begins on Monday, June 7, 2021. The fall semester begins on Monday, August 23, 2021.
Need books and supplies for classes? The bookstore is open online and fulfills orders within 24 hours. Use the textbook lookup tab and choose shipping or on-campus pick-up. Books will be available beginning May 10, 2021 for summer classes and July 19, 2021 for fall classes.
Campus Health & Safety
Face-to-face instruction will be conducted with protective measures in place, including regular sanitizing of college facilities and social distancing in accordance with federal and state guidelines. The college will provide necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), including hand washing and sanitizing products, and face coverings for students and faculty. Classes held on campus will have class size limitations based upon the physical distancing that can be safely accommodated within their assigned classrooms.
ECC will continue to deliver a high-quality academic experience for students enrolled in online and hybrid courses. For summer, most classes continue to be offered entirely online. Some courses requiring an essential face-to-face component, such as on-campus lab work, will be provided as hybrid classes. This means a mixture of hands-on, face-to-face instruction and online learning. For the fall semester, ECC will offer an increased number of hybrid and face-to-face classes and add additional hybrid and face-to-face classes to the schedule based upon demand and updates related to COVID-19. Within the currently designed fall 2021 class schedule, approximately 34 percent of classes scheduled will include face-to-face instruction, with 5 percent scheduled fully face-to-face and 29 percent scheduled as hybrid.

Sizes of Student Groups
To accommodate social distancing guidelines during face-to-face instruction, class sizes may be reduced, and additional lab sections may be added to accommodate smaller groups. In some cases, larger groups may be broken up in adjacent rooms.
Student Support Services & Faculty Office Hours
Since the onset of the pandemic, hundreds of students have utilized our student services remotely. The majority of student support services will continue to be provided remotely this summer, including admissions, academic advising, tutoring, wellness services, and more. On-campus services with limited days and hours will also be available by appointment only. Instructors will deliver faculty office hours virtually in upcoming semesters. Plans for student support services for the fall semester are still being finalized. However, we anticipate ECC will provide student services through a combination of in-person and online services.
To be successful in the online learning environment, students will need to be equipped with the necessary technology, such as a laptop or Chromebook, and access to the Internet. If you do not have access to these resources and need assistance, please contact the Library Circulation Desk at email@example.com for Chromebook requests and firstname.lastname@example.org to request Wi-Fi hotspots.
Please note: The college's priority is to distribute resources to students who do not have access to online technology at home. These resources are available to students enrolled in credit classes and adult education classes, such as High School Equivalency (HSE) exam prep and English as a Second Language (ESL).
