ECC subscribes to the principles and laws of the state of Illinois and the federal government pertaining to civil rights and equal opportunity, including Title IX of the 1972 Education Amendments Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. College policy prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, sex, religion, age, color, creed, national or ethnic origin, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability unrelated to ability, in the recruitment and admission of students and the employment of faculty, staff, and students and wherever such discrimination is prohibited by law, in the operation of college programs, activities and services. The laws of discrimination prohibit any form of sexual harassment as well.
Evidence of practices which are inconsistent with this policy shall be reported to the paralegal EEO/AA officer for a confidential review of concerns and complaints as well as for assistance toward a timely resolution. Whenever possible, attempts to mediate grievances will be an informal process. In the event this proves unsatisfactory, the managing director of human resources will provide guidelines and assistance necessary for the grievant to issue a formal complaint. A further review may be requested by the president.
