March 12, 2014 - Interested in Joining the Team? - Three open workouts will be held for women interested in joining ECC's Fall, 2014 women's volleyball team. The workouts will be on April 15, April 22 and April 29 at ECC's Building J Events Center, Gym B. Each session will run from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Those attending should bring their own knee pads and gym shoes. November 4, 2013 – Spartan Season Comes to an End – In tonight’s quarterfinal round of the Region IV Tournament, Kishwaukee College, the #1 seed, hosted ECC, the #8 seed. The Spartans gave it their best efforts, but lost the match in three sets (17-25, 14-25, 15-25).  Kishwaukee’s balanced defense limited ECC to 24 kills and one ace. 

November 2, 2013 – Gold-Blue Challenge Semifinals – ECC took on McHenry County College this afternoon in the Blue Bracket semifinals of the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference Gold-Blue Challenge Tournament. Missing outside hitter Taylor Buch because of a season ending injury, the Spartans were down to six players. ECC played tough but lost the match in three sets (25-27, 15-25 and 22-25).

Because of their solid performances in the tournament, outside hitter Alyssa Montag and libero Alyssa Serewicz were named to the ISCC All-Tournament Team. 

October 29, 2013 – Gold-Blue Challenge – In the first round of the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference Gold-Blue Challenge Event, Morton College defeated ECC 3-1 (25-15, 25-14, 19-25, 25-12). With the loss, the Spartans move to the Blue Bracket of the tournament. They will face McHenry County College on Saturday, November 2 at Oakton Community College in Des Plaines. The match will begin at 1:00 p.m. The winner of this match will advance to the Consolation Championship match which will be played at approximately 3:00 p.m. 

October 18, 2013 – Spartans On a Roll – ECC has made some positive headway by winning three out of their last four matches. The Spartans won a close match against McHenry County College (26-24, 25-23, 20-25, 28-26) on October 8 and lost to Carl Sandburg College (25-18, 15-25, 16-25, 15-25) on October 14. The following night, ECC faced the College of Lake County on Spirit Night at the Events Center. In front of a very boisterous, pro-Spartan crowd, ECC took the match 25-17, 25-20 and 25-16. Two days later, the Spartans traveled to River Grove to take on Triton College. At the end of the evening, ECC had itself a three set win (25-16, 25-19, 25-21) over the Trojans.

Next up for the Spartans will be a home match against Prairie State College on Tuesday, October 22 at the Events Center. The action will begin at 6:00 p.m.

September 28, 2013 – Augustana Results – Having setter Jessie Crawford healthy again was a definite plus for the Spartans in their split at the Augustana College JV Tri-Match. ECC lost the first match to host Augustana 16-25, 20-25, 21-25, but went on to top Black Hawk East College 25-18, 25-21,26-24.

In the match against Black Hawk East, outside hitter Alyssa Montag had a big afternoon with 20 kills and 18 digs. As mentioned, Jessie Crawford was instrumental in the win with 33 assists, 11 digs, two kills, two blocks and two aces. Alyssa Serewicz kept the scoring attack alive with her 19 digs as did Kassie Rife with 14 digs, two blocks, two kills and one ace. Katrina Sedlock contributed to the win with her 9 kills, five blocks and two digs.

The Spartans will travel to Palos Hills on Tuesday, October 1 to take on Moraine Valley Community College. The match will begin at 6:00 p.m.  

September 14, 2013 – IVCC Invitational – Competing in the Illinois Valley Community College Women’s Volleyball Invitational, ECC had a rough day losing all three of their matches. Opening against South Suburban College, the Bulldogs defeated the Spartans 25-21, 25-21 and 25-9. In the second match, ECC faced host Illinois Valley and lost 17-25, 14-25 and 19-25. In the day’s final match, the Spartans went up against Harper College losing 15-25, 18-25, 25-20, and 9-25.

The bright spot in ECC’s day came courtesy of libero Alyssa Serewicz who was named to the All-Tournament Team. Alyssa totaled 40 digs, 20 kills, two aces and two blocks in the one day event.

The Spartans will host Skyway Conference opponent Oakton Community College on Tuesday, September 24 at ECC’s Events Center. The match will begin at 6:00 p.m. 

September 12, 2013 – Kougars Top Spartans – In this Region IV District A match up, Kishwaukee College defeated ECC 25-14, 25-11 and 25-12. In a reversal of fortunes, the Kougars are now 4-0 in district play while the Spartans are 0-4.

ECC will have its first home match of the regular season when they host Skyway opponent Waubonsee Community College on Tuesday, September 17. The match will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the ECC Events Center.

September 8, 2013 – Lincoln College Tournament Results – Competing in Lincoln College’s two day tournament, the Spartans went 1-3. Their win was against St. Louis Community College (23-25, 25-20, 21-25, 25-22, 15-12), with losses to the College of DuPage, Lindenwood University-Belleville JV, and host Lincoln College.

The win against St. Louis Community College was truly a team effort by ECC.  Alyssa Montag had a solid performance with 11 kills, three aces, 17 digs and 12 blocks. Taylor Buch added 11 kills, 13 digs and eight blocks.  Katrina Sedlock contributed six kills, two aces, 16 digs and 14 blocks. Setter Jessie Crawford had two kills, one ace, 28 assists and 21 digs in the match. Alyssa Serewicz tallied four kills, two aces, 22 digs and two blocks, and Kassie Rife had two kills, one ace, 15 digs and one block. 

November 6, 2012 – Spartans Named All-Conference – Sophomores Hannah Graves and Rachel Peara were recognized by the Skyway Conference for their solid performances on the court throughout the season. Graves was named to the Illinois Skyway Collegiate All-Conference First Team, and Peara earned ISCC Second Team honors.

November 10, 2011 – All-Conference Team Named – The Spartans had three players named to the Illinois Skyway Collegiate All-Conference Team. Earning First Team honors was defensive specialist/libero Rachel Funk. Funk was also recently named to the ISCC All-Tournament Team.

Outside hitter Hannah Graves and middle hitter Alyssa Sarrazine earned Second Team honors. Graves was a standout this season in several tournaments having been named to the 2011 Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference All-Tournament Team, the 2011 Hampton Inn Classic Volleyball All-Tournament Team, and the 2011 Prairie State College All-Tournament Team.

October 24, 2011 – ISCC Blue Pool Champions – Competing last weekend in the two day Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference women’s volleyball tournament, the Spartans came away with the Blue Pool Championship. Saturday’s match was a hard fought loss to Moraine Valley Community College (21-25, 32-30, 17-25, 29-27, 13-15). On Sunday, ECC turned the corner with a win against Oakton Community College (25-20, 25-23, 28-26) and a come from behind victory over Morton College (21-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-19).

Spartans’ Hannah Graves, Rachel Funk and Abbey Houde were named to the ISCC All-Tournament Team. In the three match tournament, outside hitter Graves had 58 kills, 8 blocks and 48 digs. Houde, at the setter position, finished with 124 assists, 10 blocks and 34 digs, and defensive specialist Funk had 76 digs.
