Head Coach

Clark Hallpike

Phone: 847-214-7542
Office: Bldg F, Room F207.02, Main Campus

A native of Antigua in the Caribbean, Coach Hallpike grew up playing soccer and played at Kent State University in the Mid American Conference. After college, he shifted his focus to tennis. He was particularly attracted to its life-long playing appeal as opposed to the rough and tumble life of a soccer player.

Over twenty years ago, the administration at ECC heard of Hallpike’s passion for tennis, and knew that he was a student of the game. Clark was asked to teach a class and coach both the men's and women's teams.

He has since attended numerous tennis camps--John Newcombe in San Antonio, Denis Van der Meer in Hilton Head and most recently, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's conference in Miami. These functions have not only helped him with his playing skills, but have also enhanced his coaching ability.

Coach Hallpike has led the ECC women's tennis teams to the NJCAA National Tournament seven times in the last nine years.

Clark was inducted into the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference Hall of Fame in June, 2011 and the Elgin Community College Athletics Hall of Fame in 2013.  He was also named the 2010 Wilson/ITA Coach of the Year for Women's Tennis for the Midwest Region, 2005 Region IV Women's Tennis Coach of the Year, 2013, 2010, 2009, 2008 and 2004 Region IV and Skyway Conference Women's Tennis Coach of the Year and the 2005 Skyway Conference Men's and Tennis Coach of the Year.

Her teams have made it to state and sectionals many times as well to the Nationals in 2006, 2009 and 2012. Her 4.5 Senior Team won the National Championship in 2009. Coach Rauh also played in the National Intersectional Team Tournament representing the Midwest the past few years. Locally, she has also been the captain of a women’s open-level traveling team for the past 12 years, playing out of the Norris Center in St. Charles. In addition to those accomplishments, Rauh was named the 2010 Wilson/ITA Assistant Coach of the Year for Women's Tennis for the Midwest Region.

This is the eleventh year she has been helping to coach the men’s and women’s tennis teams at ECC. In the past, she has instructed tennis players in the Peru park district and at the Norris Recreation Center as well as giving private lessons. She says “tennis will always be a big part of my life in some form.”
