Women's Softball

What's New

May 13, 2015 - Season Recap - The 2015 softball season started off rough, but the team was completely transformed by the end of the season. They played a lot of games close against some of the tougher teams in the district/conference. When the team played the games and didn't let the physical and mental mistakes build up, the players proved they could play with anyone. Coach Jordan Smith was able to see drastic improvements in every one of the players and in the team as a whole. They were able to battle through the loss of players, and the addition of new players late in the season. They overcame injuries and battled through a small roster. The biggest highlight of the entire season was going to Blackhawk for the regional play in game. The team had lost 2 heart breakers to Blackhawk earlier in the season.  They were able to pile on 19 runs and move on to take on Sauk Valley, the overall 1 seed in the tournament. Coach Smith was very pleased with how the players handled the season. He is even more excited to get his first recruiting class in next year to pair with the strong core of returning players.

February 14, 2014 - Softball Season Cancelled - With the season just around the corner and not having a sufficient number of players, Elgin Community College's athletic director Kent Payne made the decision not to field a women's softball team this spring. Those student-athletes who were to be a part of the 2014 season will workout in preparation for 2015, and head coach Jordan Smith will be busy on the recruiting trail.
