Women's Cross Country

What's New

November 14, 2009 - NJCAA Nationals - The Spartans traveled down to Peoria this past weekend to run at the NJCAA National Championship meet. This meet consists of all the top Division I schools in the nation. To even say that we were a part of this meet is an accomplishment of its own. The women were honored to toe the starting line with the nation’s best runners. We went into the meet knowing that we weren’t going to be contenders for any of the top spots, but knew that we had a chance to end the season with a huge BANG! Leading up to the meet, we found out that Kendra Whipple was starting to have hip pains and was told by her doctor not to run at nationals, or it would become a serious injury. This was something that we didn’t want to hear days before leaving for Peoria, but the rest of the women didn’t let it bother them too much.   More »

Season Outlook

I couldn't ask for a better group of women to be training this year.  Leading the team is Sarah Cebulko who ran for Bartlett High School, and is the captain of the Spartans. She is ready to work hard and possibly be the #1 runner for the Spartans just as her sister, Heather, was last year. Another graduate from Bartlett High Schol is Hana Sutchar.  I expect great things from Hana. Within just two weeks of practicing, she is already ahead of where the women were at the end of last season. Sarah and Hana will help lead the team to a great season with their experience and attitude towards running. A Larkin graduate Darlynn Sivilay, who ran cross country her senior year, and loved it, will be joining the Spartan team. Lastly, we have Meaghan Parsons who is new to the running scene. She is a very athletic individual who did cheerleading at St. Charles North High School.  She has been working extremely hard at practice, and is improving every day. Last year, the Spartans took a trip to South Carolina to run at NJCAA Nationals. I expect the same from these amazing individuals as well.
