Student Orientation
New College Student Orientation
All first-time college students must attend new student orientation prior to registering for classes. Once you have completed steps 1-3 of the enrollment process, contact the Admissions Office at 847-214-7385, to schedule an orientation date. These sessions are designed for the new student only. We strongly encourage parents/families to attend one of our parent/family orientations.

- Submit your high school and prior college (if applicable) transcripts. More»
- Demonstrate you have met ECC's minimum competency requirements in writing, reading and math. To determine which requirements you must meet, view Minimum Competency Requirements
Date & place: Sessions are offered April through August for new students beginning in the fall semester and November through January for new students beginning in the spring semester. It is important you contact the Admissions Office as soon as you have completed Earliest available orientation will be assigned following completion of steps 1 - 3 above to reserve an orientation session seat. Sessions take approximately four hours. During the session you will:
- Get to know other new students,current ECC students and staff
- Explore and use important resources, services and technologies
- Learn basic educational planning skills
- Register for classes
New students who have attended another college/university or are attending to complete courses for personal interest only, are strongly encouraged to attend new student orientation. Other students requesting a waiver of this requirement may complete the orientation waiver form.
Parent/Family Orientation
topNew college students who have the support of their parents and/or families are more likely to succeed. We invite you to attend a parent/family orientation session to learn important details that will help you support your college student. To reserve your place, call 847-214-7385.
