ECC’s Regional Economic Development Alliance

The college’s Division of Corporate and Continuing Education initiated the Regional Economic Development Alliance (REDA) to secure grant funding for mutually beneficial projects of interest. To date, REDA has applied for two grants and is working on a third grant proposal that request funding for a regional industry cluster study or analysis.

The results of this study would be beneficial to regional economic development planning, as well as provide valuable information on how to address current economic development needs.  More than 20 area municipalities and chambers of commerce have pledged in-kind commitments to this Alliance. These commitments have been stated in writing and are included with the grant proposals.

Members of this REDA include:

  • ECC, Division of Corporate and Continuing Education
  • Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Chamber of Commerce
  • Bartlett Chamber of Commerce
  • City of Elgin
  • Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce
  • Hoffman Estates Chamber of Commerce
  • Huntley Chamber
  • Kane County Economic Development
  • St. Charles Chamber of Commerce
  • Northern Kane County Chamber
  • Village of Algonquin
  • Village of Bartlett
  • Village of East Dundee
  • Village of Gilberts
  • Village of Hampshire
  • Village of Hanover Park
  • Village of Hoffman Estates
  • Village of Sleepy Hollow
  • Village of South Elgin
  • Village of Streamwood
  • Village of West Dundee

Other area municipalities, area economic development organizations and area chambers of commerce are invited to be a part of the REDA. For further information, please contact Susan Van Weelden, dean of corporate and continuing education, at svanweelden@elgin.edu, or call 847-214-7820.
