Virtual Classes

Virtual Classroom Image

What are virtual classes? They are online classes, but are held in real time. This means you log into the class at the predefined time each day the class meets.  You will be joined by the actual faculty and your real classmates!!  The materials and instruction will be presented by the instructor and you and your classmates will be able to ask questions and interact with each other and the instructor. It will be just like you are sitting in a real classroom at ECC except you’ll be doing it from the convenience of your home or office.

Examples: PSY100.771 and PSY100.772.

How It Works

At class time, you will log into SecondLife and Teamspeak. The class will then proceed as would a standard class, albeit in a virtual environment.

What do I need?

  1. Download SecondLife (3-D virtual environment) by registering at the their website. SecondLife does not run in a web interface.
  2. Download TeamSpeak (cross-platform voice integration).
  3. A headset and microphone. A basic USB model will be sufficient.

Note: Both programs can be be loaded onto and run from a flash drive.
