Virtual Classes

Virtual Classroom Image

These are online classes held in real time. This means you log into the class at the predefined time each day the class meets, joined by actual faculty and your real classmates. Materials and instruction are presented by the instructor and you and your classmates may ask questions and interact with each other and the instructor. Virtual classes are like sitting in a real classroom at ECC except you do it from the convenience of your home or office.

Examples: PSY100.771 and PSY100.772.

How It Works

At class time, you log into SecondLife and Teamspeak. The class then proceeds as a standard class, albeit in a virtual environment.

What do I need?

  1. Download SecondLife (3-D virtual environment) by registering at their website. SecondLife does not run in a web interface.
  2. Download TeamSpeak (cross-platform voice integration).
  3. A headset and microphone; a basic USB model is sufficient.

Note: Both programs can be loaded to and run from a flash drive.
