ECC has an open door admissions policy, as governed by the Illinois Community College Act. This means students may enroll in any class provided they meet the college’s minimum competency requirements, course prerequisites, and/or departmental admissions requirements and as long as space for effective instruction is available. To enroll, students must complete an application for admission and submit appropriate school transcript(s). There is no application deadline or fee.
How to Apply
New College Students
First-time students of any age who plan to attend ECC and have attended no other college.
Students who attended a college/university other than ECC previously and plan to enroll at ECC to complete a program of study here or take a few classes here and transfer them back to their four-year college/university.
Former ECC students who plan to resume taking classes.
High School (Secondary) Students
Currently enrolled high school (secondary) students planning to complete some high school requirements with college level courses.
Home School Students
Current secondary and/or home schooled students who are college-ready may gain early access to higher education. Admission details»
Students who are not U.S. citizens who are interested in attending ECC on a visa are considered international students. Admission details»
Non-High School Graduates
A non-high school graduate, 16 or 17 years of age, who has severed connection with his/her high school, may be admitted if it is demonstrated that the student will benefit from enrollment at the college. Non-high school graduates 18 years or older may also be admitted. The student must provide written evidence from the chief executive officer (or designee) of the high school district in which the student has legal residence of this separation from the high school to the Admissions & Recruitment Office.
