Accelerating Opportunity Program
Accelerating opportunity provides career navigation and personalized advising to prepare students for the workforce in welding, computer numerical control (CNC) operator, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR), dental office aide, computer integrated manufacturing (CIM), or integrated systems maintenance technology (IST). Most offerings are one-year programs leading to a certificate and National Career Readiness Certification (NCRC). Degree options are also available.
How the Program Works
Students attend their career and technical courses as a team and stay together throughout the duration of the program. A career navigator for the program works with students to provide additional career and employability training. Students will also be provided internship and job search assistance.
Qualifications
The program is designed for students interested in a high-growth, high-wage career who:
- Are pursuing a GED®
- Have a high school diploma or college coursework
- Are working on improving their English language skills, or
- Need additional support in reading or math
- Can commit to and complete the program in less than a year

Payment
Students pay tuition for the career and technical classes and receive a three credit hour tuition waiver or loaner textbooks (if they qualify), but the support class (math, reading or writing) or tutoring are free of charge.

Accelerating Opportunities Programs
Students entering the program will complete the initial certification of their choice in one year or less. Additional certifications leading to an Associate of Applied Science Degree are available for students who wish to continue study.
