Services & Resources for the Unemployed

ECC offers a number of programs and services to assist individuals who are currently unemployed. Scholarships, financial aid, workshops, short-term job training opportunities and supportive services are just a few of the services available. Begin your journey today by contacting the program coordinator. Career services are available to Cook County residents living in Bartlett, Streamwood, Hanover Park and Elgin through ECC.



Illinois Workforce Development Systems (IWDS)
IWDS provides a state listing of WIA (Workforce Investment Act) certified training programs.

ECC Credit Programs
Certificates and degrees designed to prepare students for immediate employment.

Information regarding ECC certification programs and specialized skills training.

Financial Aid & Scholarships
Both full-time and part-time students may qualify to receive financial aid and no age restrictions apply.

Student Loans
Loans are available for students and/or parents. This type of funding must be repaid according to the terms specified by the loan program.

Academic & Transfer Advising
Whether you are in need of academic, educational success or personal/social advising, the advisors at ECC are here to assist you.

Adult Basic Education
Free ECC classes (for eligible students) in reading, writing, math, computers, U.S. Constitution, GED in English or Spanish, English as a second language, and citizenship instruction.

Career Development Services
Whether you’re looking for a part-time job to support your classroom experience and get first-hand knowledge about your major and career, or you want to acquire the skills you need to get a full-time professional position, ECC's Career Development Office is here to help.

Age 50+ Programs
The program focuses on helping you get quickly re-trained for new jobs and back into the workforce by offering services specifically designed to make your journey easier and more effective. Programs include:
