ECC Trustees approve purchases, actions at June 14, 2016 meeting

The Community College District 509 Board of Trustees approved several recommendations from college administrators during a public meeting on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Elgin Community College. The meeting was held in Seigle Auditorium in Building E at the college, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

Chair Eleanor MacKinney, CAS, presided over the meeting attended by Trustees John Duffy, MSEd; Jeffrey Meyer, JD; Clare Ollayos, DC; Donna Redmer, EdD; Art Sauceda, CPA; and Student Trustee Diego Gonzalez. Trustee Angela J. Holmes was absent.

The trustees voted to approve, adopt, authorize, affirm, or accept:

  • College reports.
  • Adopt Fiscal Year 2017 budget.
  • The minutes of the regular board meeting held May 10, 2016.
  • The minutes of the closed-session of the regular board meeting held May 10, 2016.
  • Ratification of the Report of Expenses for May 2016.
  • Renewal of partnership agreement between Elgin Community College and Columbia College for July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2019.
  • Operating parameters for Auxiliary Enterprise Units for Fiscal Year 2017.
  • Establishment of prevailing wage for FY2017 for persons involved in public works construction in Community College District No. 509.
  • Board of Trustees Matching Funds Commitment Form for the Art and Technology Building project requested in the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) Resource Allocation and Management Plan (RAMP) for Community Colleges for Fiscal Year 2018.
  • Dual credit memorandum of understanding with Elgin Community College, the Kane County Regional Office of Education and the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center for the summer 2016 pilot program.
  • Purchase computer equipment and related peripherals from Howard Technology (Ellisville, MS) in an amount not to exceed $31,585.00.
  • Contract with American Fire Training Systems (Lockport, IL) for the purchase of one (1) 53' training container and props in the amount of $97,000.
  • Renew the contract with Grainger Industrial Supply (Northbrook, IL) for one additional year for janitorial supplies in the amount not to exceed $180,000, utilizing the Educational and Institutional Cooperative (E&I) contract pricing.
  • Purchase equipment and upgrade software for the college's local radio communications systems from United Radio Communications, Inc. (Bridgeview, IL) in an amount not to exceed $31,609.
  • Purchase printing services for the Performing Arts Center fall 2016 and spring 2017 season brochures from Hagg Press (Elgin, IL) in an amount not to exceed $32,752.
  • Contract with TouchNet Information Systems, Inc. (Lenexa, KS) for e-commerce services of web-based student payment plans for a five-year contract with a maximum cost of $474,045.69.
  • Purchase one (1) used 1990, 75' Pierce Lance ladder truck from the Village of West Dundee in the amount of $60,000.
  • Resolution of Appreciation for Ms. Billie Barnett, who will retire June 30, 2016.
  • Resolution of Appreciation for Ms. Ella Bizik, who will retire June 30, 2016.
  • Resolution of Appreciation for Registration Specialist, Ms. Celia Lopez, who will retire June 30, 2016.

The next regular board meeting will be held in the Building E Seigle Auditorium on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
