The work of five Elgin Community College Students will be
showcased during the 2014 Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference
Juried Art Competition. The exhibition will be held from Saturday,
March 8, through Tuesday, April 8, at McHenry County College, 8900
U.S. Highway 14, Crystal Lake.
The exhibit is on display in Gallery One and Gallery Two,
Building A, Room A212, with an artist's reception in Gallery One
from 1 to 3 p.m. on March 8. The awards ceremony will be held at 2
ECC students Andrew Zirk, of Gilberts; Brian Garbrecht, of
Elgin; Lizz Zonno, of Bartlett; and Dan Mrotek and Charlie Knifong,
both of St. Charles, competed against 200 entrants from all
eight Skyway Conference Schools.
"Their success is not only a reflection of their perseverance
and abilities, but a testament to the instructors who assisted them
in developing their singular talents," says Ed Krantz, manager and
curator of ECC's gallery program.
