Latinx Heritage Month

The Latinx Heritage Month theme 2024 is UNITED: Celebrando Nuestra Resistencia e Impacto.  

With this year being an important election year, the Latinx Heritage Month Committee wanted to highlight and celebrate the resiliency and impact of the Latinx community, ensuring that our presence is known and represented.  

Latinx Heritage Month events are open to all ECC students and the community!

Sponsored by the Latinx Heritage Month Committee, Transfer Services, Equity and Student Success Action Council (ESSAC), Center for Civic Engagement, Student Experience and Engagement Center and the Organization of Latin American Students (OLAS).

Join us for the annual Latinx Heritage Month kickoff brunch, honoring the legacy of Jane Barbosa, a well-known member of the ECC and Latinx community in Elgin. The event will feature keynote speaker Gustavo Silva, Manager of Youth and High School Football for the Chicago Bears and District 300 graduate. 

General Admission: $50 per guest

Student Ticket: $25 per student

Sponsor Opportunities:

• We Rise Sponsor - $1,500 
• This sponsorship will fund (1) a We Rise scholarship for an ECC student 
• Benefits: social media mentions, program feature*, table display at the event 
• Includes eight guest tickets - a full table at the event
• Empowerment Sponsor - $750 
• This sponsorship will partially fund the We Rise scholarship for an ECC student.
• Benefits: social media mentions, program feature*
• Includes four guest tickets - half-table at the event
• Madrina/Padrino Sponsor - $100 
• This sponsorship will help cover admission for four student tickets or two general tickets.

Funds raised will support the We Rise Jane Barbosa Scholarship, which provides a scholarship opportunity for undocumented, DACA, and mixed-status ECC students.
