Safety and Kids' College at ECC

Welcome to the beginning of Kids' College Summer 2013!

Safety is a high priority for our camps. Your teacher is assisted by a classroom helper. Take time to introduce yourself as you sign your child in and out of camp. Please notify Joan Arnal if there are any special needs, allergies or individuals who may be picking up your child and signing them out besides you. Our ECC Police are well informed of our locations and always keep a special eye out for our 'Kids'.

Follow the CE Blog (you are here!) and Facebook page (coming soon!) to keep you informed of any changes, special activities or classroom creations that show off Kids' College Projects.

Don't forget to sign-up for the ECC Emergency Alert System to get emergency texts and emails. When a situation arises that requires an emergency broadcast, the college will send a text message to the phone number you provided.

CEK-003 KIds' College Shakespeare Theatre

CEK-003 Kids' College Shakespeare Theatre  

You do not have to go to Chicago's Shakespeare Theatre located at Navy Pier to experience the greatest theatre ever written! Enroll in Shakes-Play! A class for anyone who wants to learn more about the world of William Shakespeare and how to approach his literature through performance. Discover how funny, action packed and intriguing his plays really are when you first learn how to unlock his language through theatre games, on-your-feet group activities and scene work from several of his well-known plays, such as Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Macbeth! The instructor, Sarafina Vecchio, is currently a graduate student with the University of Warwick and The Royal Shakespeare Company and will be using their world famous techniques for teaching young students the excitement of Shakespeare right here in Elgin!

NEW CLASS! Intermediate Digital Photography

(Noncredit offerings) Permanent link

CED-928 Intermediate Digital Photography will reinforce the concepts covered in Intro to Digital Photography. Special attention will be devoted to topics including close-ups, portraits, landscape photography, and other areas requiring more sophisticated techniques. Field trips throughout the course allow for on-location photographic composition. Students create a portfolio of their work. Students must have a good working knowledge on the use of a DSLR. A SLR digital camera is required.

Future Filmmaker's Academy (new series!)

This new workshop will focus specifically on the role the director plays in bringing films to life. The course provides an overview of the filmmaking process, as aspiring directors ages 8 to 16 learn the technical skills necessary for directing, how to prepare for work in films, and how to direct actors for the camera.
