Kids' College Week 4 Classes Start July 13

There is still time to join the fun we are having during Kids' College 2015!  Our six-week program offers over 50 class sections held on the beautiful ECC campus for students ages 6 through 15.  Most classes run for three hours a day either in morning or afternoon on Mondays through Thursdays.  Here are some of the courses we are running starting this coming Monday, July 13:

"Writing Academy" for ages 11 to 15.  Meet published authors Penny Blubaugh, Cynthea Liu, Norm Cowie, and Eileen Favorite who will take you through the writing process from start to finish.  Each day one of these authors will workshop a different aspect of writing and publishing while you have fun developing stories, writing humor, mastering character communication, marketing to publishers, participating in group discussions while you bring your ideas to life!  This class runs an extra two hours each day Monday through Thursday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. so you get 20 hours with these professionals!  Course code is CEK 034 200.

"Anthropology Academy - the Romans" for ages 9 to 12.  Learn what it was like to live in the Roman Empire.  Students will learn about Roman culture, daily life, imperial and artistic triumphs, and gladiator combat!  Instructor Leona Vattimo works for the N.W. Harris Learning Collection located at the Field Museum in Chicago.  This class runs four days from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.  Course code is CEK 038 200.

ACT Test Preparation Class Starts July 27

Every single point matters!  Using the Cambridge "Six-Step Approach", students receive diagnostic testing and assessment through pre- and post-testing.  Students participate in basic skills review, in-class problem solving, concepts and strategies.  Also included is practice test reinforcement to identify subject matters that students need to improve.  Reading, English, Science and Math subjects are taught by experienced teachers.  This course is designed to help students achieve test scores that reflect their potential by helping them focus on key areas.  Books and practice tests are included in the course tuition.  The class starts on Monday, July 27, 2015.  Course code is CEB 903 200.  Please register by July 20 to assure receipt of books and materials provided at the beginning of class.  Please access this link for complete details and 24/7 online registration:

Food Safety Certification Classes at ECC

Elgin Community College's Continuing Education Department offers Food Safety certification courses instructed in English and Spanish held during the year at ECC.

The one-day, 8-hour course includes exam preparation and the ANSI-CFP accredited exam for the Illinois Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification (FSSMC).  The exam is held at the end of the class.
