MTH 099 Combined Basic & Intermediate Algebra

Prerequisite: Appropriate placement test score

This course is designed to be a combination of basic and intermediate algebra. Although emphasis is placed on techniques and manipulations, problem-solving and logical reasoning are main threads throughout the course. Topics include: operations and properties of real numbers; linear equations and inequalities in one and two variables; systems of linear equations in two variables; operations of polynomials including factoring; absolute value equations and inequalities; rational and radical expressions and equations; complex numbers; quadratic and polynomial equations; properties of functions and their graphs, including polynomial and exponential functions; and applications.
