MTH 096 Basic Algebra
Credit Hours: 4
Prerequisite: Grade of C or better in MTH 090 or appropriate placement test score

This course is designed to be a first course in algebra. Although emphasis is placed on techniques and manipulations, problem-solving and logical reasoning are main threads throughout the course. Topics include: operations and properties of real numbers; linear equations and inequalities in one and two variables; systems of linear equations in two variables; operations with polynomials including factoring; polynomial equations; and applications.
