HUS 215 Basic Substance Abuse and Treatment

This course will introduce the student to the nature of substance use disorders. This will include the development, symptoms, consequences, and prevention and treatment of abuse and dependence. Assessment; methods of treatment; strategies for client engagement and retention; client and community education; and referral and coordination with other services providers will be included. (1.2) Proficiency Credit Not Available Pass/No Credit Not Available NOTE: This course is offered concurrently as SUB 215. The student must decide whether to earn credits in Human Services (HUS) or Substance Abuse Counseling (SUB) prior to enrolling.
