A study of drama and literature by European authors of the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries to be developed around a selection of 13 television plays augmented by text materials and readings. Filmed segments will be integrated with anthology, book of critical readings, and workbook-study guide. Basic intent of the course is to aid in understanding historical-social backgrounds of the periods represented, to aid in analyzing form, and literature importance as an enhancement to enjoying the plays, and to develop learning techniques of interpretation and criticism.
