ATR 250 Human Evolution

Prerequisite: Reading: Grade of C or better in RDG 091, an ACT Reading score of 18 or above, or an appropriate placement score. Writing: Grade of C or better in ENG 098, an ACT English score of 20, or an appropriate placement score.+

An introduction to the field of biological (physical) anthropology concentrating on the origin of modern humans from earlier members of the primate order. Topics include: history of evolutionary thought; basic principles of genetics, the theory of natural selection as a mechanism for evolution, the evolution of primates and modern primate diversity, ecological adaptations of human ancestors, the fossil and molecular (genetic) evidence for models of human evolution, and modern human variation.
