Volunteering at the Arts Center
Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. Day and evening hours are available. Training is provided. To become an usher, call 847-214-7586.
Arts Center Usher
- take tickets
- show patrons to their seat
- answer questions and make referrals when necessary to the house manager or ticket office
- guide patrons to other facilities
- assist with concessions or retail sales
Perks: Free tickets to select Arts Center events in exchange for hours worked.
Gallery Volunteer
Volunteers can serve as monitors or assistants in the Safety-Kleen Gallery One. To volunteer at the gallery, contact 847-214-7405 or gallerydirector@elgin.edu.
Gallery assistants duties:
- help with installations
- wrap and unwrap artwork
- maintain gallery walls
Gallery monitors duties:
- open and close gallery
- take a visitor count
- safeguard exhibitions
Perks: Gain new perspectives on the community’s cultural views. Hear visitors' opinions and discuss art with others who share your interests. Arts students can learn the logistics and aesthetic considerations of running a gallery and enhance their resume to acquire other art-related jobs.
