Foundation Priorities & Goals

As a part of its annual goal setting and ongoing strategic planning processes, the following priorities and goals have been identified by the foundation's staff and board of directors.

Annual Report

The foundation publishes an annual report to publicly celebrate student accomplishments, acknowledge donor contributions, and to provide full transparency regarding its operations and efforts to fulfill its mission and optimize donor resources.

Providing Financial Support

General Scholarship Fund

A major factor in student recruitment and retention, scholarships help students overcome financial barriers and continue their education at ECC. They also help attract high academic achievers with limited means to consider ECC. The ECC Foundation needs annual and planned gifts in any amount to increase the number and amount of annual scholarship awards.
Goal: Award at least 15 new scholarships each year. View foundation scholarships»

Annual Fund

The annual fund permits limited discretion in the use of funds to those areas of greatest need. Historically, these areas have generally included student scholarships; programming and administrative support of the foundation's operations and special events; and unforeseen student requests for emergency relief.
Goal: Increase contributions to the foundation's annual fund by at least 10 percent each year.

Endowment

Growth in the foundation's endowment will generally occur through increased major gifts and planned giving. These activities enable the foundation to maintain its ever-increasing levels of student scholarship awards in perpetuity. As the endowment grows, projected interest earnings also increase, thereby, making more scholarships and institutional support available.
Goal: Grow the foundation's endowment by at least 5 percent each year.

Planned Giving

Planned giving is a primary means of increasing the foundation's endowment. Donors work closely with their financial planners, legal advisors and foundation officials to preserve the donor's legacy of giving with a gift most often in the form of a bequest. The foundation has allocated full-time resources to establishing a thriving planned giving program.
Goal: Identify 10 individuals who have included the foundation in their estate planning; to significantly increase planned giving participation by at least 10 percent in years to come. Make a donation»
