May 6, 2015 - Elgin Community College will be hosting the 2015 Region IV Sectional Baseball Tournament on May 9th and 10th.

All games are at Elgin Community College Spartan Field. The tournament schedule is as follows:  

Saturday, May 9

  • Game 1 - 9:00 AM - #7 Carl Sandburg vs. #11 Morton College
  • Game 2 - 12:00 PM - #2 Elgin Community College vs. #7 Carl Sandburg
  • Game 3 - 3:00 PM - #2 Elgin Community College vs. #11 Morton College

Sunday, May 10

  • Game 4 - 12:00 PM - Championship Game
  • Game 5 - Championship Game #2 (30 minute following Game 4 if needed)

If all teams are 1-1 after Day 1 the HOME team will receive the bye in Game 4.

All games are nine-innings \ Double-elimination tournament

Run Rules - Ten runs after five innings\ Eight runs after seven innings\ Run rule does not apply to the championship game

June 4, 2014 - Spartans Earn Post-Season Accolades - The Elgin Community College Baseball team had several players earn post-season awards after having very successful seasons. Brian Sobieski, a freshman, earned NJCAA Second Team All-American honors, along with First Team All-Conference and First Team All-Region honors.  He did so by batting .456 with eight home runs, and 44 RBI's. He also led the country in on-base percentage with a .558 average.  He is the college's 21st baseball All-American that has played for Coach Bill Angelo.

Dane Burman, a sophomore catcher, earned both First Team All-Region and First Team All-Conference honors by hitting .366 with seven home runs and 37 RBI's.  Sawyer Chambers, Troy Dykhuis, and Blake Alexander, all freshmen, earned Second Team All-Conference, while Sawyer was also named to the All-Region Second Team.  Chambers was 6-2 on the year with a 2.25 earned run average.
