Dear Valued Community Member,
My office recently received numerous calls asking us to confirm that Elgin Community College is purchasing and/or locating in Spring Hill Mall. Elgin Community College is not considering the purchase of Spring Hill Mall nor are we moving to this location. This is a rumor which has circulated many times before and is, again, making the rounds in several communities.
Because a rumor of this nature can cause upset and uncertainty throughout the community (as demonstrated by the many concerned phones calls, emails and personal visits I’ve received in the last few weeks), I feel it necessary to unequivocally dispel the rumor.
At Elgin Community College our mission is to improve people’s lives through learning, and I stand firm in living this mission—even when it means learning the truth about unfounded rumors. Please accept this communication as official confirmation that Elgin Community College has no intention of purchasing Spring Hill Mall and has not engaged in any discussions or negotiations with anyone to that end.
