Dr. Phyllis E. Folarin

Dr. Phyllis E. Folarin of Elgin works as principal consultant in her firm, Achievement Solutions, an educational consulting service. She earned a bachelor's degree from Wilberforce University, Ohio, a master's from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, and a doctorate from the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana.

A trustee on the ECC board since 1999, Dr. Folarin has served terms as chair and vice chair. She’s also chaired several board committees. She was appointed an associate member to the Association of Community College Trustee‘s diversity committee.
 
Her community involvements include serving as a board member for the Boys and Girls Club of Elgin and a member of School District U-46 African-American student advisory council. Awards include the 1999 Martin Luther King Humanitarian Award for Outstanding Achievement in the field of education and the 2003 YWCA Leader Luncheon racial justice award.

Dr. Folarin resides in Elgin with her husband, Femi. They are the parents of three adult daughters.
